Analytical Pyrolysis as a Tool to Assess Residual Lignin Content and Structure in Maritime Pine High-Yield Pulp
نویسندگان
چکیده
The residual lignin content of unbleached maritime pine (Pinus pinaster Aiton) Kraft pulps was assessed by analytical pyrolysis (Py-lignin) and the results were compared to Klason kappa number. Thirty samples, each from an individual tree, delignified under identical conditions. varied widely as Py-lignin (5.9%–9.2%), (8.2–15.1), number (59–112). Despite a systematic difference between Klason, they strongly correlated (R2 = 0.90). H/G ratio pulp ranged 0.145 0.195, with mean 0.165, which is more than two times average Maritime wood (0.064). show that pulping, selectively degrades labile inter-unit links, changed pattern products considerably and, consequently, its structure. This shows enrichment in H-lignin-derived products, namely phenol, p-cresol, m-cresol, some G-lignin-derived such guaiacol 4-mthylguaiacol, decrease coniferylaldehyde, homovanillin, eugenol. Principal component analysis (PCA) G- are distributed along PC 1 based on their content. loadings plot this separation mainly due small G-lignin including 4-methyl guaiacol, 4-vinyl isoeugenol (trans), abundant higher obtained appropriate method for quantifying provide information regarding how degraded during pulping process.

Isolation of Residual Kraft Lignin in High Yield and Purity
In this paper, we report on a novel residual lignin isolation method. Initially we demonstrate that, in order to cellulolytically isolate residual lignin in high yield, the cellulosic structure of the pulp should be exposed as much as possible. Consequently, we developed a two-step method that first uses a mild enzymatic treatment to render most of the carbohydrates water-soluble and remove hem...
متن کاملCarbohydrate structures in residual lignin-carbohydrate complexes of spruce and pine pulp
Residual lignin carbohydrate complexes (RLCC) were isolated enzymatically from spruce and pine pulp. The RLCCs contained 4.9–9.4% carbohydrates, with an enrichment of galactose and arabinose compared to the original pulp samples. The main carbohydrate units present in all studied RLCCs were 4-substituted xylose, 4-, 3and 3,6-substituted galactose, 4-substituted glucose and 4 and 4,6-substituted...
متن کاملInfluence of Residual Lignin Content on Physical and Mechanical Properties of Kraft Pulp / Pp Composites
The effect of residual lignin content on the mechanical strength and water absorption of kraft pulp/ polypropylene composites was studied. To meet this objective, hornbeam wood chips were converted to kraft pulp at three different alkalinities (15, 20, and 25%) and three different cooking times (60, 90, and 120 min). The residual lignin contents of these pulps were determined according to the T...
متن کاملBayesian networks as a decision making tool to plan and assess maritime safety management indicators .
Today, maritime safety management norms, self-assessment guides and frameworks demand and/or recommend the collection, report, and analysis of indicators to measure the safety performance of shipping companies. However, the characteristic of classic indicators only provide information about the specific evaluated activity. In this paper, a new quantitative and qualitative option to jointly anal...
